Chesapeake FIRST Robotics Competition
[Mar. 10, 2006] FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) continues to grow and inspire high school students to become tomorrow's engineers and scientists. Come visit the Chesapeake Robotics competition any time between 8:30 am and 5 pm on Thursday, March 16 (practice) and Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18 (competition) at Halsey Field House, U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland.

The Chesapeake FIRST Robotics Competition is free and open to all. Children are encouraged to attend. Free parking and a shuttle are available from the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The only private cars allowed to park at the competition site are those bearing handicapped user certification. In addition, all adults must have a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a current driver's license.

The CPCUG Robotics SIG has been active in helping students from several local high schools (including Benjamin Banneker Academic, Roosevelt, McKinley Technical, and Ballou in Washington, DC) prepare and particpate in FIRST competitions. If you'd like to participate, there are many ways to help, from mentoring student programmers to staffing a table at an event. Contact: Janet Lathan.
