News, August 2007 CPCUG Internet Cafe, part 2 | Thank You | ComBaz | CPCUG Internet Cafe, part 1 CPCUG Internet Cafe at the Fair CPCUG volunteer boothstaffers, including Nan, greeted Internet cafe visitors and answered questions about the Internet, computers, technological change, CPCUG, and much, much more. Other CPCUG boothstaffers included Mark Mabee, Karen and Dennis Courtney, Herb Fredricksen, Mark Leymaster, Rich Schinnell, Irene and Paul Shapiro, John Sherman, Jim Short, and William Spillane. At the right of the photo you can just see the edge of the green screen set up by members of the CPCUG Digital Video SIG. Volunteers from that group demonstrated to visitors some of the wonders of video cameras and aspects of video production and editing on PCs. The Internet Cafe was a welcome refuge for Fair visitors, allowing them to catch a break from the August heat and get on the Internet in air conditioned comfort. CPCUG sold 25 Entertainment 2008 discount coupon books at the Fair as part of our fundraising effort in support of CPCUG's community service projects, which include the award of prizes for students exhibiting amazing projects in computer science and related fields at science fairs throughout Washington, DC, and surrounding areas.
